Quilla C. Edwards, 85, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006.

A native of Madison County, he was born on February 24, 1921, and was the son 
of the late Austin and Mamie Lou Epps Edwards. He retired after 13 years of 
service with the Georgia Center of Continuing Education Food Service 
Department. 

Mr. Edwards was a retired United States Navy veteran of 30 years who served in 
World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam conflict. He was a Pear 
Harbor survivor and was awarded the Victory Medal, National Defense Service 
Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Navy 
Occupation Medal, Combat Action Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, a Bronze Star 
and Recruiter Service Ribbon. 

Survivors include his wife, Louise Edwing Edwards; son, Ronald A. Edwards, 
Hull; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Phil Childs, Danielsville; brother, 
the Rev. Virgil Edwards, Athens; sisters, Mirle Fortson, Athens, Marie Allen, 
Grayson, and Jeanette Daniels, Thompson; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, in the chapel of Brown Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial 
Park.

Pallbearers were Walter Jackson, Kenneth Ginn, Paul Edwards, Greg Allen, Jerry 
Fortson and Bobby Gunnells.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
