Edwards Rites Are Held Today


   Crawford C. Edwards, native and resident of Madison County until he moved 
to Baltimore, MD two years ago, died there Wednesday after an illness of one 
week.  Mr Edwards was 46 years old.

   Services were conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock from Calvary Baptist 
Church with Rev. C. R. Ellison, pastor of Central Baptist, and Rev. Virgil 
Edwards, pastor of Union Point Baptisti Church, officiating.

   Interment followed in Whitworth Cemetery in Madison County.  Bridges 
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Nephews of Mr. Edwards served 
as pallbearers.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mitchell Ellers Edwards, Baltimore: two 
sons, 
Cecil Edwards, U. S. Army overseas, and Troy Edwards, U. S. Navy overseas; 
three brothers, Austin Edwards, Athens, Hoyt Edwards, Baltimore, and Cleo 
Edwards, Kannapolis, N. C.; sister, Mrs. Aubrey Branyon, Athens.

   Born in Madison County, Ga., Mr. Edwards lived there until he moved to 
Baltimore two years ago, where he was connected with Bethlehem Steel 
Corporation.  He was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Greenville, 
S. C., and had always been active in church work.
