CHARLEY FREE RITES


   Charley E. Free, 88, of Crawford, died Wednesday, Dec. 24. 

   A native of Lumpkin County, he lived in Madison County for over 50 years 
before moving to Oglethorpe County some five years ago.  He was a member of 
the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and served as a deacon for a number of years.

   Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the 
Revs. Richard Veale, Troy Whitworth and Larry Davison officiating.  Burial was 
in the church cemetery.

   Pall-bearers were deacons of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

   Bridges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Lawon Free, Crawford; two daughters, 
Mrs. L. M. Yarbrough, Crawford, and Mrs. Estselle Lloyd, Marietta; two sons, 
William O. Free, Flint, Michigan, C. E. Free, Jrs., Bridgeton, Missouri; one 
brother, Garland Free, Hull, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; 
and a number of nieces and nephews.
