A native of Madison County, he was born on August 18, 1950, and was the son of the late James Walter and Pauline Bloodsaw Freeman. He was a forklift operator in the textile industry and was a member of the Colbert Grove Baptist Church in Madison County. Survivors include his wife, Odessa Allen Freeman, Colbert; sons, Ray Allen, Comer, and Emanuel Freeman, Athens; mother-in-law, Mary Lizzie Allen, Comer; five sisters, Annie Pearl McGird, Brenda F. Gantt and Weida Chappell, all of Colbert, Edna F. Haines and Mary Williams, both of Atlanta; three brothers, Edward Freeman, Chattanooga, Tenn., Bennie David Freeman and Howard Freeman, both of Colbert; two grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 16, at the Colbert Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Bloodsaw officiating. C.W. Phelps Funeral Home, Elberton, was in charge of arrangements.
