W. D. GHOLSTON PASSES FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD THURSDAY Dr. W. D. Gholston, prominent physician of Danielsville and former member of the State General Assembly, died in an Athens hospital Wednesday morning at 2:30 o'clock. Dr. Gholston was 76 years old and had been ill for only a few days. Funeral services will be conducted from the Danielsville Methodist Church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. J. B. Ward, and Rev. B. W. Hancock, pastor of Martha Brown Memorial Methodist Church in Atlanta, officiating. Burial will be in Danielsville cemetery, McDorman Bridges in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Judge J. T. Murray, H. A. Baker, Perry Smith, F. C. Graham, R. H. Thompson and Dr. L. A. Elder. An honorary escort will include D. A. Moseley, J. T. Baker, L. E. Greene, members of the Athens Lion Club and members of the Madison County and the Clarke County Medical societies. Surviving Dr. Gholston is a daughter, Mrs. R. E. Adair, Thomaston, Georgia, son J. B. Gholston, Millen; two granddaughters, Seleeta Adair, Thomaston, and Stephenia Gholston, Millen, and one grandson, Gholston Adair, Thomaston. A native of Madison County, Dr. Gholston was born November 26, 1876, and had lived in that community all of his life with the exception of the time he was attending college. He graduated from the University of Georgia Medical School in Augusta in 1900 and entered the practice of medicine in his home county, continuing in that profession until the time of his final illness. He was a member of the Methodist Church and for many years was Sunday School Superintendent, chairman of the Board of Stewards, and was active in all the affairs of his church. He was past president of the Clarke County Medical Society and also of the Tenth District Medical Society and was one of the most highly respected members of his profession, being held in great esteem by both his fellow practitioners as well as his patients. Dr. Gholston was one of this section's best known men and was greatly loved by the hundreds to whom he ministered over a long period of years of fruitful service to his fellow men. He will be greatly missed by the hundreds who knew and admired him for his sterling character and warm friendliness. The body will lie in state in the church from 1:30 p. m. until the hour for the service.
