MRS. W. D. GHOLSTON PASSES FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY

   Mrs. W. D. Gholston, one of Madison County's most prominent women, died 
in an Athens <hospital> Saturday morning at 6:45 o'clock, following a short 
illness.  Mrs. Gholston was 73 years of age.
   Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the 
Danielsville Methodist Church by the Pastor, Rev. H. G. O'Bryant.
   Burial was in Danielsville cemetery.  Pallbearers were Judge J. T. Muray, 
Col. Howard Gordon, J. A. Baker, R. H. Thompson, D. A. Moseley and 
L. E. Greene.
   In addition to her husband, Dr. W. D. Gholston, one of Northeast Georgia's 
best known physicians and a former State Representative, Mrs. Gholston is 
survived by a daughter, Mrs. R. E. Adair, Stone Mountain, Ga.; son, Dr. Joe 
Boyd Gholston, Millen, Ga. a sister, Miss Cora Pitts of Nashville, Tenn..; 
brother Baxter Pitts, Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren: Stephanie Gholston, 
Millen and Ann Adair of Stone Mountain.
   Mrs. Gholston was a native of Huntsville, Ala.  She had been a resident of 
Danielsville for the past thirty-eight years.  She was most outstanding in all 
community activities.  She was a splendid musician and for a number of years 
served as organist of the Danielsville Methodist Church of which she had 
long been a devoted and active member.
   She was seriously ill for a few days, entering an Athens Hospital on 
Friday. Her condition grew steadily worse and death came early Saturday.
   Mrs. Gholston had countless friends who are greatly saddened by her death.
