J. E. Gordon Dies The death of Col. Jno. E. Gordon of Danielsville, Sunday at noon, while was expected, yet was quite a shock to his family and the community. Col. Gordon came to Danielsville about the year 1875 and established himself in business, and made many friends in this his adopted home. he having been born in Franklin county in the year 1885, he read law in the office of the late Judge David W. Meadow, and was admitted to the bar here at the March term of the Superior Court in 1886 had been in the active practice here since, until about two years ago when his health gave way. He was the oldest practitioner of the Danielsville bar. He was Treasurer of this county for several terms and was held in high esteem by hismany friends as both man and a lawyer. He was about 70 years of age at the time of his death and a member of the Methodist church. He was buried here Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock the funeral service being conducted from the Methodis church, by his pastor, Rev. A. Sprayberry. He began a wife and eight children, four boys and four girls, and _____, as well as a large number _____ ____ and friends to mourn his death. All of whom have ___ ___ sympahy in the loss of a husband, father and friend. Fort Lamar News The many friends of Col. John F. Gordon were very sorry to learn of his death. He was born and grew to young manhood near this plance, and was highly esteemed by those who knew him. We sympathize with the bereaved.
