LAURENS, S.C. - Mrs. Margie Nix Hawkins, 69, former
Athens resident, died today in a Laurens Hospital after
several years of declining health.
   A native of Madison county, she was the daughter of
the late Christopher C. and Janey Lell Nix.
   Survivors include her husband, James W. Nix, Sr. of
Laurens; one son, James W. Hawkins, Jr. of Laurens;
one sister, Mrs. Annie N. Flanaganof Athens, one step-
sister, Mrs. Chesie B. Wages of Athens, three grand-
children.
   Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the
Second Baptist Church in Laurnes.  Burial will be in
Forest Lawn cemetery.
   Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
