Rev. Fulton Bryan officiated from Comer Baptist Church and burial was in the Comer cemetery. A native and life-long resident of Madison County, Mrs. Hix was born October 5, 1886, the daughter of the late Ben and Beulah Evans Smith. She was married to Mr. Earl Benton and Mr. Arthur M. Hix, both of whom proceeded her in death. Mrs. Hix died Monday in an Athens hospital following falling health for several months. She was a member of Comer Baptist Church and was active in the affairs of the church and in the civic affairs of Comer. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul Hammond of Comer and Mrs. Dewey Pulliam, Lavonia; one son, Mr. James A. Benton of Norfolk, Va., three sisters, Mrs. Griff Meadow of Comer, Mrs. Clee Cook of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Mrs. Cecil Kennedy of Jasper, Fla.; two brothers, Mr. Ralph Smith of Atlanta and Robert Earl Smith of Tiftgon; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Cliff Smith of Comer; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
