Hix Dies, Funeral Held Saturday Funeral services were held last Saturday for Mr. Arthur Morris Hix, 83, of Comer, at the Comer Baptist Church. Officiating at the funeral services were Rev. H.K. Albright, Baptist Pastor, and rev. E.D. Carlock, Pastor Comer Methodist Church. Interment was in the Ila Cemetery. Mr. Hix died Friday at 2:00 p.m. at his home in Comer. He had been in declining hearlt for eight years and seriously ill for three days prior to his death. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of Comer Baptist Church. He served a number of years as Tax Receiver and Clerk of the Madison County Commissioners. Pallbearers were David C. Jordan, Jr., William H. Alexander, John R. Waller, Walter R. Murray, Jr., Oscar K. Battle and Johnny White. Mr. Hix is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Smith Hix; son, James A. Hix, Comer; stepson, James A. Benton, Norfolk, Va; five daughters, Mrs. Roy Barton and Mrs. Edmund Smith, Comer; Mrs. Clayton Jordan, Atlanta; Mrs. Lawrence Chandler, Crawford; Mrs. J.W. Waller, Hinesville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Paul Hammond, Comer, and Mrs. Dewey Pulliam, Lavonia. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
