Dr. Hampton Dies at Colbert After Long Illness

    Dr. H. H. Hampton, 75-year-old physician at Colbert, died late yesterday 
afternoon after an extended illness
    Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3:30 from the Colbert 
Methodist church with the Rev. L. G. Hendricks officiating, assisted by Rev. 
L. G. Hendricks officiating, assisted by Rev. F. J. Hendrix.
    Dr. Hampton was a native of Danielsville, Ga., but had lived at Colbert 
for the past 4_ years, where he enjoyed a large medical practice until failing 
health forced him to retire about a year ago.
    Following graduation from the Atlanta Medical College, Dr. Hampton located 
in Colbert and took an active interest in the affairs of his community.  He 
was a member of the Board of Education for __ years and had been a Mason since 
early manhood.
  Members of the Board of Trustees and the superintendent of the Colbert High 
school served as pallbearers, at this afternoon's rites with an honorary 
escort escort being composed of members of the Clarke county and Madison 
county medical societies.
  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Annie Laurie Bray Hampton; three daughters, 
Miss Annie Mae Hampton, Logansville; Miss Neva Dee Hampton, Gainesville and 
Miss Mary Bray Hampton, Colbert; four sons, Dr. Y. G. Hampton, Barnesville; 
Dr. J. R. Hampton, Gainesville; Howe Hampton, Hollywood, Fla.; and Herbert 
Hampton, Colbert.
  Interment was in Colbert cemetery with McDorman-Bridges funeral home in 
charge of arrangements.
