JAMES T. HAMPTON On last Thursday, January 26th, Mr. Jas. Hampton died suddenly at his home near here. He had been in declining health for several months suffering from dropsy and heart trouble. He was laid to rest in the family burying ground at his home on Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Funeral services were held at the residence conducted by Rev. Spearman, pastor of Bluestone church, the opening prayer being conducted by A.A. Garner and the closing prayer by H.M. Williams, Supt. of Sunday School. Mr. Hampton would have been 64 years old on Saturday, having lived his life in the old Hampton homestead. During the last few months of Mr. Hampton's life he was delighted to have his friends and neighbors hold prayer services in his home and at intervals to have the minister to come in and conduct preaching services. He leaves a widow, four daughters, Mrs. Madison Adams, Mrs. Grady Patton, Mrs. Hoyt Mathews and Miss Phe Hampton; five sons, Hope, Wade, G. Jackson, Tillman and Grady; and one brother, Dr. H.H. Hampton, of Colbert. We extend to the bereaved our heartfelt sympathy in their great loss.
