Coke Hardman, one of Colbert's outstanding citizens, and a former State Representative, died in an Athens Hospital last Friday night at 8:14 o'clock. Mr. Hardmand was 76 years old and had been ill for one week. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Colbert Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. Harold Braswell, Rev. A. E. Logan, pastor of Hull Baptist Church, and Rev. Joe A. Wingfield, pastor of Colbert Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Colbert cemetery with Bridges Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were Charles E. Bell, W. Holden Hardman, Joel Hardman, Hugh Hardman, H. R. Hitchcock, Yates Row, Jr., R. R. Stpehenson, and James A. Hitchcock. Mr. Hardman, a retired merchant, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude Row Hardman; three duaghters, Mrs. J. H. Griffeth, Brooklet, Ga., Mrs. J. K. Brookshire, Colbert, and Mr. H. G. Parrish, Winchester, Ky.; six sons, Phil M. hardman, Colbert, Elmore Hardman and Henry C. Hardman, Jr., both of Hapeville; W. Neil Hardman, Lake Wales, Fla; C. Talmadge Hardman, Atlanta; and J. Cecil hardman, Shelby, N. C.' three sisters; Mrs. Ophelia Gholston, Athens and Mrs. J. D. Sims and Mrs. M. R. Leard, both of Colbert; two brothers, S. R. Hardman and Dr. J. C. Hardman, both of Colbert. Mr. Hardman was a native of Madison County and life-long resident of Colbert. He was a former member of Madison County Borad of Education and of Colbert Methodist Church, in which He served as a member of the Board of Stewards for fifty years. He was a former Clerk of Colbert City Council and a member of the Shrine.
