Derek Randy Haynes, 20, of Carlton, died Saturday, September 16, 2006.

He was a native of Clarke County, was a carpenter and attended Love Outreach 
Ministries Church. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Jimmy L. Mattox 
and Walton Haynes.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Rose and Ricky Bruce, Carlton; 
father and step-mother, Randy and Sheri Haynes, Elberton; brothers, Jonathan 
Bruce, Erik Haynes; sisters, Jennifer Bruce and Natalie Roberts; grandmothers, 
Mary Mattox, and Billie Bruce, both of Carlton, Betty Haynes, Elberton, and 
Eleanor Strickland; great-grandmother, Williamette Scarborough; and several 
uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 18, in the chapel of Hicks 
Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Ellison and Gary Purvis officiating. Burial 
was at Forest Hills Memorial Park cemetery. 

Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton, was in charge of arrangements.
