Loftis, which occurred at the house of his daughter, Mrs. Alexander, near Comer, Wednesday morning, in the 87th year of his age. Although a native of Elbert, he had been a citizen of this county for many years, and lived respected and died beloved by all who knew him. He was a good and valuable citizen, a useful member of the Baptist church, a loving father and a firm, loyal friend. He leaves a large family and many relatives and friends to mourn his death, to all of whom we offer sincere sympathy. Additional Comments: William Francis Loftis was born 12 Feb 1828 in Elbert Co., the son of William Loftis (ca1799-1879) and Catharine King (ca1800-1894). He married on 19 Dec 1850 in Elbert Co. to Elizabeth Satterwhite Hall (28 Feb 1834-14 Jul 1913), daughter of John Pryor Hall (1797-1838) and Mariah Louisa Turman (1808-1881). William Francis Loftis and wife are buried in the Comer City Cemetery, Comer, Madison Co., GA. A sister of William F. Loftis was Mary Adaline Loftis who was married to Lt. James Chambers Hall (CSA), brother of Elizabeth Satterwhite Hall.
