We regret to hear of the death of Mr. Wm. Loftis, which occurred at the house 
of his daughter, Mrs. Alexander, near Comer, Wednesday morning, in the 87th 
year of his age. Although a native of Elbert, he had been a citizen of this 
county for many years, and lived respected and died beloved by all who knew 
him. He was a good and valuable citizen, a useful member of the Baptist church, 
a loving father and a firm, loyal friend. He leaves a large family and many 
relatives and friends to mourn his death, to all of whom we offer sincere 
sympathy. 

Additional Comments:
William Francis Loftis was born 12 Feb 1828 in Elbert Co., the son of William 
Loftis (ca1799-1879) and Catharine King (ca1800-1894). He married on 19 Dec 
1850 in Elbert Co. to Elizabeth Satterwhite Hall (28 Feb 1834-14 Jul 1913), 
daughter of John Pryor Hall (1797-1838) and Mariah Louisa Turman (1808-1881). 
William Francis Loftis and wife are buried in the Comer City Cemetery, Comer, 
Madison Co., GA. A sister of William F. Loftis was Mary Adaline Loftis who was 
married to Lt. James Chambers Hall (CSA), brother of Elizabeth Satterwhite 
Hall.
