Mattox and carried her upon death's journey. Aunt Ella as most of us called her yielded with that satisfaction due to a long life of usefulness and kindness which made the truthfulness of "Well done thou good and faithful servant enter thou into the joys of thy Lord;" and winged away upon the great journey surrounded by her immediate family and a number of interested friends. She had lived to the ripe old age of 85 years, being cheerful at the times despite the fact of an infirmity, not being able to hear well the majority of her life. She and her husband, the late Hosea B. Mattox, were one of the pioneer families of our county and had contributed their share to the upbuilding of our town and churches she being a member of the Baptist church here, trusting in God and obeying the ordinance of this institution, thought owing to sickness was never able to be present very much, yet standing for the precepts did abiding in faith. The immense floral offering attested the esteem in which she was held by friends. She was borne to the grave by eight of her stalwart grandsons, preceded by four granddaughters carrying flowers; the funeral services being conducted from the Baptist Church by her pastor, Rev. W. M. Coile with Alvin Baker funeral director in charge, the interment being in Danielsville cemetery along side of her husband. she is survived by two sons; Lee A. Mattox of Danielsville; Roscoe C. Mattox of Murphy N. C.; six daughters: Mrs. J. M. Kidd, Mrs. C. C. Crook; Mrs. C. C. Kidd of Danielsville, Mrs. A. M. Scarborough of Comer; Mrs. Tom Thornton of Athens and Mrs. Whit Hansford of Arnoldsville, a number of grandchildren and other relatives with a great number of friends.
