She had a deep love for children and animals and devoted her time and resources to children and animal causes, according to her family members. She was a member of the Georgia Antiquarian Booksellers Association. Survivors include her husband, James McMeans, Jr., Danielsville; son and daughter-in-law, Ian and Terry Assael, Pa.; parents, Sara and Irving Sarokin, Florida.; sister, Sandra Katcher, New Jersey; grandchildren, Samantha and Thomas Assael; and mother-in-law, Ruth McMeans. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7, at Dressler’s Funeral Home, Atlanta. Burial was at Arlington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Save The Children, 50 Executive Park South, Atlanta, Ga. 30329. Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Case, Atlanta, was in charge of arrangements.
