S. McWhirter Goes To Her Reward Mrs. L. S. McWhirter died at a hospital in Anderson, S. C. Monday April 25th after a short illness. The funeral services were held at Liberty Church, Fort Lamar on Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Brand of Royston, assisted by Rev. Jolly, of Comer. Mrs. McWhirter was 65 years old and had lived near the Ft. community all of her married life. She had also been a member of Liberty Church during those years and was a loyal and faithful member. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Dr. W. B., of Anderson, S.C.; Messers James of Royston; John W. of Tampa, Fla.; Leland of Ft. Lamar; Mrs. Chandler Phillips of Royston. Several children preceded her to the grave some years ago. She is also survived by one sister and a number of other relatives who mourn her going away. Mrs. McWhirter was a very fine character--modest, gentle in manner--always the same. She had many friends and if she ever had an enemy, we never knew of it. She will be sadly missed. The sympathy of all goes out to her loved ones.
