Meadow, relict of the late Hon. I. J. Meadow, of Comer, was released from its earthy tabernacle and winged it way back to the God who gave it. She had been an invalid many years, but it was not thought she was in any immediate danger until Monday morning, when she suffered a sudden and violent attack, which proved fatal in a few hours. Mrs. Meadow was the second daughter of the late James Daniel, and was married to I. J. Meadow April 14, 1861. This union was blessed with 11 children, 8 of whom preceded her to the grave. Although an invalid for a long time, she bore her sufferings with Christian resignation and fortitude, being of a bright and cheerful disposition and always solicitous about the comfort and welfare of those around her. She was a devoted wife, mother and sister, a kind and obliging neighbor, a true and steadfast friend, an humble, faithful Christian, a pure, good woman. As Jesus said of another Mary, 'she did what she could" for the advancement of the interest in His kingdom in the world--relieving the wants and necessities of others and contributing all she could towards increasing their comfort and happiness. She had been for a number of years an acceptable and useful member of the Methodist church and adorned the profession she had made with a spotless and beautiful Christian life. She leaves three daughters and a large circle of other relatives and friends to mourn her death, which will be sincerely lamented by the entire community. Her children have the earnest, sincere sympathy of all our people in their deep sorrow, as they have been bereft of both father and mother within the past few weeks. But they should be comforted by the reflection that though temporarily separated from them, if they are faithful to the end they will be reunited in that "city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Mrs. Meadow's remains were consigned to mother earth in the cemetery here Monday afternoon, Rev. J. F. Pharr conducting the funeral service, and we have in doubt her glorified spirit is now an inhabitant of that blessed land where "Sickness and sorrow, pain and death are felt and feared no more." Additional Comments: Transcriber's note: The above obit states that she and Isaac had 11 children, 8 of whom died before them. However, in the 1900 Census for Madison County, it states that she had 12 children but only three living.
