Hut Moon, 80-year-old resident of Comer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. J. Porterfield Wednesday morning at 7:40 o'clock, after an illness of thirteen weeks. Funeral services were held at Vineyards Creek Baptist church on Thursday afternoon at four o'clock, Rev. S. S. Williams, pastor of the church officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, with McDorman Bridges in charge of arrangements. Grandsons of Mr. Moon acted as pall bearers. Surviving Mr. Moon are his wife, Mrs. Frances Moon, of Comer; four daughters, Mrs. C. C. Carithers, Comer, Mrs. G. C. Brown, Kannapolis, N. C.; Mrs. H. G. Seymore, of Elberton and Mrs. Porterfield; two sons, T. D. Moon, Comer and C. G. Moon, Kannapolis, N. C.; a sister Mrs. Lou Threlkeld, Calhoun Falls, N. C.; thirty-three grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. A native of Madison county, Mr. Moon had spent his entire life as a resident there. He was an expert rock mason and was very active in his work until a few months ago. He was a member of and an active worker in Oak Grove Baptist church and he leaves a large number of friends who regret to learn of his passing. her pastor officiating.
