She was the daughter of the late Bose and Artie Tanner. Mrs. Morris was a member of the Moreland Avenue Baptist Church for more than 50 years and a former member of Georgia Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Girls High and GSCW and taught chemistry for the Atlanta School System and the White County School System. She was a graduate of the Grady School of Medical Technology and joined the United States Army as a medical technician, serving at Camp Edward in Massachusetts during World War II. After the war, she became employed at the Fulton County Health Department in 1946, and then transferred to the State Health Department, from which she retired in 1976. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Tanner Jr. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Elco Emory Morris; son and daughter- in-law, Hoyt and Renee Morris, Seattle, Wash.; two granddaughters, Cindi and Marci Morris; sister-in-law, Terry Tanner; two nephews, Jeff and David Tanner, all of Virginia. Memorial services were held Tuesday, October 31, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, with Dr. Ted Boland officiating.
