Murray Saturday Friends of Walter Murray, resident of Athens for many years and more recently of Comer, will regret to learn of his death yesterday afternoon at his residence in Comer. He was age 46. Mr. Murray, who resided here before moving to Comer 16 years ago, was ill for one month. Funeral services will be held at the Comer Methodist Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. Interment will be held in the Comer cemetery. He had been connected with the Rowe Warehouse of Athens for many years and was well known in the cotton and warehouse trade throughout this section of the state. Mr. Murray was active in church and Sunday School work and was a member of the Masons. He had been in failing health for the past month, but his condition grew serious only a short time before his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kathleen Benton Murray, Comer; daughter, Miss Janice Murray, Comer; son, Walter Murray, Jr., Burgaw, N.C.; sisters, Mrs. Addie Smith and Mrs. G.G. Smith, Hull; brothers, A.O. Murray, Comer; J.H. Murray, Chattanooga, Tenn.; J.B. Murray, Nashville, Tenn., and J.D. Murray, Cateechee, S.C. Bridges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
