Mr. Palmer was a native of Dawson County, a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II, having served in the 2nd Armored Division and was a member of the Public Works Department of the City of Cartersville. A son of the late George and Annie Palmer, survivors include his widow, the former Marie Cline, two sons, Ernie Palmer of Cartersville, and Gary Palmer of Lawrenceville; three grandchildren; four sisters, Edith Watson of Athens, Pauline Sea of Hull, Dorothy Morris and Flora Brown, both of Colbert; five brothers, Paul Palmer of Douglasville, Ernest Palmer of Winterville, Edward Palmer of Forest Park, Leonard and Bill Palmer, both of Comer and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Merritt officiating, Interment was in Sunset Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers were Marion Smith, Monroe Cagle, Riley Prather, Jerry Milam, Al Tull and Ray Southern. Additional Comments: Newspaper source may not be accurate.
