Danielsville Monitor, 29 September 1922

Dr. A.L. Payne of this place was taken seriously ill last Wednesday morning 
and was rushed to a hospital at Athens where he died Saturday night and was 
buried at that place Monday afternoon.  He leaves a wife and three children 
several grandchildren one sister and a number of other relatives.  He was 
about 65 years old and had practiced medicine here for 35 years or more.  He 
will be greatly missed.
