F. Cunningham, on Spring Street, Mr. E. Porterfield passed away. His death had been expected for several days and was caused from a carbuncle on the back of the head or neck. Mr. Porterfield was a citizen of Madison county for years, moving to Royston only a few months ago. He was quite well known throughout this section, and had hundreds of friends who mourn his loss today. It was our good fortune to have known "Uncle Eph" for a good many years, and we know him only to like him the more, he was of such a cheerful disposition. But his jovial laughter, his kindly smile and cheerful greeting will be no more on this earth; he has been called away after a life of most three score and ten. Mr. Porterfiedld was the father of four living children: Mrs. W. F. Cunningham, and Mr. C. E. Porterfield of this city and Messrs. W. R. and N. J. Porterfield of Comer. The interment will take place at the family burying ground in Madison county tomorrow morning. ---Royston Record Additional Comments: Full name and DOD obtained from tombstone listing in Madison County Cemetery Book, 1987.
