Smith, 77, of Comer, Ga., have been announced for Saturday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Comer Baptist Church. Mr. Smith, a life-long resident of Madison County, died suddenly in comer Thursday at 5:30 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Simmons Smith of Comer; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin Gray, Lakeland, Fla., two sons, Floyd Smith and Franklin Smith of Comer; four sisters, Mrs. A.M. Hix of Comer, Mrs. J.C. Cook of Fort Pierce, Fla, Mrs. Griff Meadow of Comer, and Mrs. Cecil Kennedy of Jasper, Ga., two brothers, Ralph Smith of Atlanta and Robert Earl Smith of Tifton, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted by the Rev. S.N. Scarborough, pastor of the Comer Baptist Church. He wil be assistsed by the Rev. L.C. Mobley, pastor of the Comer Methodist Church. Interment will be in Meadow Baptist church Cemetery. The remains will be at the residence after 4 p.m. today and will remain there until 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will be at the residence. Mr. Smith was the son of the late Benjamin Smith and Beulah Evans Smith. He was a member of the Comer Baptist church and he owned and operated his own farm until he retired in 1962. Bridges Funeral Home is ini charge.
