Mr. Smith had been ill for some time but on Monday he was so much better, when unexpectedly he was stricken with a throat trouble which caused his death on Tuesday. His father, Mr. Ben Smith had just returned from a visit to him, leaving him as he thought, so much better, that no one was prepared for the sad news of his death. Cleo is the only one of our Comer boys as yet to make the supreme sacrifice for his country and it was with sad hearts that his townspeople saw his body arrive on Friday _____ neath its drapery of stars and bars. The funeral was conducted at Paoli on Saturday by Rev. Betts and interment was at Paoli cemetary. The bereaved had the sympathy of the entire town. Note from submitter: Date of death was 15 January 1919.
