            Funeral Services Monday For Mr. Ben Smith

     Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Comer 
Baptist 
Church for Mr. Ben Smith, who died at his home in Comer Saturday night after an 
illness of six weeks.  Rev. S.S. Williams, Baptist Pastor, was the officiating 
minister 
and sons-in-law were the pall bearers.
     Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Mrs. Annie Smith; four sons: Mr. Cliff 
C. Smith, 
Comer; Mr. Roy Smith, Saulte Ste. Marie, Michigan; Mr. Ralph Smith, Staten 
Island, 
New York; Mr. Robert Earl Smith, Kannapolis, N.C.; four daughters, Mrs. A.M. 
Hix, 
Comer; Mrs. Griff Meadow, Comer; Mrs. Cleveland Cook, Fort Pierce, Fla.; Mrs. 
Waldo 
Smith, Kingsland, Ga.; a brother, Mr. George Smith, Greenwood, S.C.; two 
sisters, 
Mrs. Turner Bradberry, Greenwood, S.C. and Mrs. Henry Thompson, Greenwood, S.C.
     Honorary pallbearers were Messers. J.N.B. Thompson; R.E. McKenzie, T.C. 
Hutcheson, 
J.L. McMurray, I.O. Duncan, J.W. Draper, W.A. Rowe, A.M. Wilkins, C.B. Ayers, 
J.A. Sims, 
A.L. Comer, W.C. Groves, W.F. Carithers, Ed Latimer and Lonnie Scarborough.
     Mr. Smith was 82 years of age.  A native of the county he had resided in 
this section his
