J. B. SIMS TAKEN BY DEATH FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY Mr. J. B. Sims, age 76, died at the home of his brother, Mr. J. A. Sims in Comer, Sunday night at 8:00 o'clock, after an illness of two days. Mr. Sims, a resident of Gainesville, Fla., had been in failing health for the past four years and suffered a heart attack while on a visit to his brother this past week. Services were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from Mars Hill Church in Oconee County, Rev. B. C. Hogan, Pastor of the Church of Christ in Bogart officiating. Burial was in Mars Hill cemetery with nephews and grandsons of Mr. Sims acting as pallbearers. In addition to his brother, Mr. J. A. Sims of Comer, Mr. Sims is survived by two other brothers, Mr. O. J. Sims of Crawford, and Mr. M. A. Sims, of Valdosta; four daughters, Mrs. Susan Crenshaw, Gainesville, Fla.; Mrs. W. L. Wilder, Atmore, Ala.; Misses Isabelle Sims and Agnes Sims of Gainesville, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Sims, Valdosta; sisters, Mrs. C. N. Griffeth, Bogart and Mrs. G. W. Crenshaw, Macon; sister-in-law, Mrs. Katie Whitehead, Athens; grandchildren Burke and Eugene Crenshaw, Gainesville, Florida, Susie ___ Sims and ___ Sims both of Valdosta, Wallace Wilder, Jr, Atmore, Ala., and Orie Bennett Sims, U. S. Army overseas. A native of Madison County, Ga., Mr. Sims formerly lived at Comer, but for the past twenty-five years had resided at Gainesville, Fla. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a devoted worker in that congregation until failing health four years ago curtailed his activities. Though his health had been declining, death of Mr. Sims was unexpected and came as a shock to a large number of friends in this section.
