P. Smith Held December 27th Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Four o'clock from the Meadow Baptist Church for Mr. J. P. Smith, well known cicizen of Comer wh odied at his home Thursday after an illness of several months. Services were conducted by Rev. W. R. Calloway and burial was in Meadow Cemetery. A native of Madison County, Mr. Smith lived in Athens for twenty years before moving to Comer two years ago. He was connected with the Climax Hosiery Mills while in athens. He was a member of Mount Vernon Lodge of Masons and that organization had charge of ceremonies at the graveside. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Emma Dye Smith; daughter, Mrs. C. J. Dye, Athens; three sons: W. E. Smith, Decatur; W. L. Smith, Atlanta; and J. C. Smith, macon; two sisters: Mrs. Turner Bradberry and Mrs. Henry Thompson, both of Greenwood, S. C.; two brothers: Mr. Ben Smith of Comer and Mr. George Smith of Greenwood, S. C. : thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
