R. Smith Dies Thursday; Services Saturday Mrs. E. R. (Ellen) Smith, died at her residence in Hull Thursday night at 8 o'clock following an illness of ten weeks. Services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from Gordon's Chapel, Rev. F. J. Hendrix, pastor of Arnoldsville Baptist church, and Rev. T. H. Wheelis, pastor of Gordon's chapel Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in Gordon chapel cemetery, McDorman-Bridges in charge of arrangements. Pall-bearers will be Thomas Crawford, E. H. Crawford, Paul Crawford, George R. Burroughs, G. C. Autry and Guy Cheatham. Surviving Mrs. Smith is her husband, E. R. Smith; two daughters, Misses Mary Helen and Imogene Smith, both of Hull; three sisters Mrs. D. A. Williams and Mrs. Lon D. Crawford, both of Athens, and Mrs. L. P. Hammonds of Winder. Mrs. Smith was a native of Madison county and before her marriage was Miss Ellen Willingham, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Willingham, prominent residents of this section. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist church and of one of Madison county's best know families. She was 50 years old. In 1918 she was married to E. R. Smith and to this union two daughters were born. A member of the Baptist church, she was greatly beloved by all who knew her and news of her death will cast a pall of sorrow over the many friends who loved and admired her.
