TYKE STRICKLAND On January 2, 1930 at his home near here occurred the death of Mr. T. Y. Strickland who was born and reared and spent his entire life, practically on the same farm. Tyke, as he was familiarly known to his friends, was 50 years old at the time of his death and in spite of much suffering from chronic arthritis in the last few years, was always cheerful and kind. He had connected himself with the Moon's Grove Baptist Church many years ago which faith he had kept continually being an active member. He had many friends throughout this section. The funeral services were conducted from Moon's Grove Baptist Church on Friday, Jan. 3 at 11 A.M., Rev. Hendrix, interment following immediately in Moons Grove Cemetery. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Cassey Bullock Strickland, four daughters: Misses Alberta, Oline, Mattie Sue and Wardell Strickland and one son, R. B. Strickland, of Danielsville; three sisters: Mrs. J. B. Slator, of Athens: Mrs. Levy Black, South Carolina, and Mrs. B. Jarrett of Crawford; five brothers: Messers O. T., T. B. and C. H. Strickland of Madison County near here; and Dugar and M. L. of Athens. The Strickland family were pioneers of Madison County and have wide family connections.
