W. Thomas. He had been in bad health for quite awhile, therefore his death was not, unexpected, yet a great shock. He was in his eightieth year. Mr. Thomas was one of Oglethorpe's oldest and best citizens having been born and raised and spent his entire life within a short distance of his birthplace. His body was laid to rest in the family burying ground near his home Friday afternoon in the presence of a large concourse of friends and relatives. Rev. Crutcher conducted the funeral with a short but impressive services, Bernstein Bros. having charge. Mr. Thomas leaves his wife, one daughter Mrs. L. O. Chandler, and seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Busbin and Miss Mary Thomas to mourn his loss.
