Resubmitted to update information.  Mrs. Hughes' obituary was in today's 
Athens Banner Herald, Athens, GA.  Here is the edited version:

Comer, GA - Elise Black Hughes, 93, died September 14, 2005.
A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Essie Ruth Sailors 
and Matthew Jewett Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul 
James Hughes, Sr., and five children, J. B. Hughes, Sallie Mae Hughes 
Whitehead, Evie Lee Hughes Shaw, Annie Sue Hughes Steele and an infant son.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the 
chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Rev. Douglas Hammond will 
officiate. Interment will be in Old Fork Cemetery, Carlton.
Survivors include a son and daughter; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great 
grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
