His wife's grave which here is vandalized had "Mary Burdett died 18 Aug 1854" according to Franklin Garrett. According to the 1850 DeKalb Co., GA census, she was born c. 1813-1814. When I was at the cemetery 12 Aug 2005, I saw that Mary Burdett's grave had been repaired. Additional Comments: The Hardman cemetery is now in the middle of Emory University's new Clairmont campus and is being kept up. For a long time during the 1970's & 1980's it was hidden by the nearby University apartments and heavily vandalized. I hadn't realized that the situation had changed and although most of the graves no longer have tombstones, they do have white crosses that were recently placed. Naman Hardman gave the land for the cemetery to his Primitive Baptist church in 1825. Naman isn't buried here, but in Cobb Co. at the Old Pleasant Grove or Davis cemetery off Shallowford Rd.
