O. Pittman, (William Oscar), and wife Eva Barber-Pittman with Grandmother Jackson, (who was from Union Town) with 6 of the 13 children they had. (Before the others were born.) Included is a boy that is a cousin, Carlos, who was raised by Mrs. Pittman due to the death of his mother. we think it is in front of the Pittman Farm on Nowhere Road in Athens, Georgia. This photo belongs to one of the twins, who were the last children born in 1920, Ed Pittman. Additional Comments: William Oscar Pittman moved to Philadelphia after the depression hit as well as the Hail Storm in Athens. He had owned a cotton gin, a sawmill, a store and the farm. During the depression, he sold goods on credit and for any future cotton. The cotton did not grow due to the hail storm and the produce from his farm as well as goods from the store gave out. All he had left was the farm, so he left his family to find work. They did not see him again for many years. He returned to die of throat cancer. His mother was taken care of by Eva as were the children. Her family were the Barbers,(Barbersville), and she was born and died in Georgia.
