KELLEY, JR. ARE UNITED IN MARRIAGE In a setting of rare beauty, Miss Virginia Collier, duaghter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph S. Collier of Comer, and George W. Kelley, Jr. of Carlton and Augusta, spoke their marriage vows at dusk on December 20, 1942 at the home of the bride's parents. Rev. Joe V. Cook performed the impressive ring ceremony in the presence of a hos of relatives and friends. The bride is the third daughter of her parents. The occasion was fraught with sentiment since she is the third sister who has spoken her marital vows in almost the identical spot. The other sisters are Mrs. T. W. Porterfield of Colbert and Mrs. Alton Hardy, of Perry. The home was never lovelier than on this occasion. The improvised altar was marked by a background of smilax and other greenery. Just in front of this was an arch which held many burning tapers. On either side of the arch were seven branched candelabra. Interspersed at intervals with huge baskets of white gladioli. The green and white motif was featured throughout the house. White satin ribbon marked the state through which the wedding party came. Preceding the ceremony, a program of prenuptial music was rendered by Mr. Billy Kelly, brother of the groom, during which time T. W. Porterfield lighted theh candles. Mrs. W. L. Williamson, Aunt of the bride, accompained at the piano by Mrs. Jess Ellington, sang "O Promise Me " and " Because. " To the strains of Mendelssohms Wedding March the bridal party entered -- First the bridesmaids -- Miss Belle Vaughn, Miss Margaret Byrum, Miss Mary Kelly, sister of the groom and Mrs. T. W. Porterfield came, wearing blue slipper satin dresses, featuring a long bodice and full skirt. In their hair they word a matching ostrich tip. On their arm they wore carnations in a huge bow of tulle. They were followed by the groom and his best man, Mr. Pep Brown. Troy Porterfield, Jr., nephew of the bride, entered next carrying the ring on a white satin pillow. He was dressed in a suit of blue velveteen with white satin blouse. Miss Sarah Collier, younger sister of the bride, was maid of honor entering alone. Her gown was an exact replica of those worn by the bridesmaids except it was pink. The petite flower girl, Gloria Porterfield, came scattering rose petals-- who was dressed in a pink net with tight fitting bodice and long skirt covered withi tiny ruffles, weraring a tiny pink ostrich feather in her hair. The bride entered alone, her blond lovliness was emphasized by her handsome dress of traditional ivory satin with long train, long flowing sleeves _____ the beauty of the dress. Her veil was caught in her hair in a halo effect. She carried a white satin muff covered with net that matched her veil with a showered orchid attached. Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Collier entertained at a reception, the feature of which was the cutting of the beautiful three tiered weddingn cake by the bride. Those assisting in entertaining were Misses Elizabeth Mathews and Dorothy Cox, Mesdames T. C. Hutcheson, C. C. Mathews, A. M. Wilkins; C. S. Rowe and W. A Rowe.
