JOHNNIE W. SIMMONS Miss Betty Ann King, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. J. King of Comer, became the bride of Johnnie W. Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Simmons of Hull, at a ceremony taking place at the Comer Methodist Church at five o'clock, on November 24th. Rev. Henry Walker, former pastor of the Church, performed the double ring ceremony. The Church was decorated with seven-branched candelabra and tall baskets containing a variety of white chrysanthemums against background of fern and evergreen. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Lucille Sasser rendered a program of organ music. Miss Elsie Jordan, of Piedmont College, Demorest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jordan, and a close friend of the bride, sang " The Lord's Prayer " and " I Love You Truly. " The ushers were Jenkins King, Jr. of Atlanta, brother of the bride and Cecil Strickland of Hull. Miss Ann Simmons, sister of the groom, served as maid of honor. She was attired in a cerise suit and wore yellow carnations. The beautiful blonde bride entered with her father, and was met at the altar by the bridegroom and his best man, Bobbie Coile, of Hull. The bride was radiant in a white suit with which she wore a white felt hat. She carried a white prayer book covered with orchids. The bride's mother chose for her daughter's wedding a blue crepe Modei adorned by a corsage of red carnations. The groom’s mother was attired in gray suit with which she wore red carnations. The parents of the bride entertained the wedding party at a dinner at their home following the ceremony. On Sunday, the bride's mother entertained at a beautiful tea at her home to which a number of friends of the popular couple were invited. After a short wedding trip to Warm Springs, Ga., the couple will reside at the old home place of the bride's parents, 159 Nanthala Extension, Athens, Georgia.
