Elberton Star, 7 September 1948
Miss Payne Weds Mr. Gaines In Athens

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Payne, of Danielsville, announce the marriage of their 
daughter, Elsie to Paul Gaines, of Bowman, on September 5, at the First 
Presbyterian church in Athens, with Dr. E. L. Hill officiating.

The bride wore a suit of forest green gabardine with brown accessories.  Her 
flowers were white rosebuds and valley lilies.

Mrs. Gaines is a graduate of Athens Business College and has been connected 
with the post office in Danielsville for a number of years.

Mr. Gaines is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the 
University of Georgia.

After a wedding trip to the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, the 
couple will reside in Tifton; where the groom is a member of the faculty of 
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
