ROBERT LOWE Miss Barbara Stokes become the bride of Lt. Bobby Lowe Friday evening ceremony January 22, 1943, at the Comer Baptist Church. Rev. Joe V. Cook, Pastor, officiated at the double ring ceremony in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. A background of Georgia cane and pine decorated the church. The altar was banked with ferns and centered on either side with seven branched candelabra alternated with tall floor vases of pink gladiolii caught with bows in pink tulle. The aisles of the church were marked with bows of tulle and white hyacinths. A musical program was presented by Miss Lucille Sasser, pianist, Mrs. J. W. Gholston, soloist sang " To You " by Speaks and " At Dawning " by Cadman. During the ceremony Miss Sasser played " Liebustraum " by Litz, and the traditional Mendelssohn's Wedding March was used. Serving as ushers were Mr. Malcom Rowe and Sesrgeant Bryer Scarboro of Fort McClellan, Ala., Master Dale Stokes, brother of the bride and Master Eddie Rowe, cousin of the groom lighted the candles. The bride's attendants were Miss Betty Lenoir and Mrs. John Wilson of Lawrenceville, her roomate at University of Georgia. Miss Lenoir wore a dress of gold, with black accessosries and a corage of Talisman roses. Mrs. Wilson was dressed in a modish two piece suit of biege with accessories of the new red and her corsage was of Talisman roses. Sergeant Larry R. Stokes, second brother of the bride, of the United States Army, Ft. Myers, fla., gave his sister in marriage. They were met at the altar by the groom and his best man, Mr. John Wilson of Lawrenceville. The bride wore an Australian blue suit and hat with over the face veil, a white blouse and plum colored accessories, and her corsage was fashioned of rosebuds of the same color. Her only ornament was an old gold locket set with diamonds, gift of the groom. Immediately after the ceremony Lt. and Mrs. Lowe left for a short wedding trip after which they will return to Selma, Ala. where the groom is an instructor at Craig Field. Mrs. Lowe has been a popular member of the younger set since coming to Comer. She is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murdock James Stokes. Her brothers are Mr. Murdock James Stokes, Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; Sgt. Larry R. Stokes of U .S. Army, Ft. Myers, Fla. and Mr. Dale Stokes of Comer. She attended High School in Birmingham, Ala. and graduated from Alexander High School, Alexandria, Ala. and later attended University of Ga. Lt. Lowe is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Lowe of Comer. He graduated from Comer High School and University of Georgia. Out of town guests attending the wedding were Mrs. Murdock James Stokes, Jr., and sons Arlan and Frank of Birmingham, Ala.; Sergeant Larry R. Stokes, U.S.A., Fort Myers Fla.; Mrs. J. B. Mims and Mrs. B. F. Quattlebaum, of Harleyville, S. C.; Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Rowe of Carlton. For the wedding the bride's mother, Mrs. M. J. Stokes, wore brown with tan accessories and a corsage a pink roses: Mrs. W. S. Lowe, mother of the groom wore a two piece suit of Australian green and a corsage of Talisman roses. REHEARSAL TEA Honoring the Stokes-Lowe bridal party, Mrs. M. J. Stokes entertained at a party last thurscay evening. A color scheme of pink and white was used. Punch, cake, nuts and green and white mints were served. Assisting Mrs. Stokes in entertaining were Mrs. Malcolm rowe and Mrs. W. S. Lowe.
