William Thaggard was born in Cumberland County, NC. in 1796 and settled in 
Marion County, Ga. in the late 1820's. His father was George Thaggard, a Dane 
who came to this country with the British Military Forces, and married Mary 
Jessop, and settled in Bladen County, NC. William Thaggard,his son was a farmer 
and settled in the Brantley,Ga.area. His second wife was Lettice McGeehe, whom 
he married in 1824. William died in 1878 in Marion County, Ga, and his wife 
Lettice died in 1881 in Marion County,Ga.
