JOSHUA DAVIS 
Joshua Davis was born about 1803 in Georgia. He married
Zilpha Ingram (her paternal grandmother was Margaret
Ingram)probably  married around 1823 -- based on age of
eldest child.

In November of 1850 they are in District 1034 in Marion
County, Georgia. Josh is listed as 47, Zilpha is 43 (her
year of birth would be about 1807). Children living at home
with them were Adret (mispelled) at age 12, James age 11,
Jesse age 8, Joshua age 6, Mary age 4, and Thomas at one
year old. 

Joshua is a Farmer with a value of $800. A Narcissa Cowen
age 12 is living with the household. (I do not know who she
is but could possibly be a granddaughter.)

They had 12 children: Addison, Mahala (married a Lawhorn),
Susan, Melia, Joel, Ellen, Addriet, James, Jesse, Joshua,
Mary and Thomas. 

I have birth dates for all the children of Joshua and
Zilphia. (I did not record my source for this which I
greatly regret, but I am thinking since there are only birth
dates someone must have had a family Bible.) 

Oldest son
Addison William Davis was born September 5, 1824 (so I would
assume Joshua and Zilphia were married in 1823 or very first
of 1824). He is listed as living in Buena Vista District in
Marion County, Georgia on November 14, 1850. Addison married
twice. His first wife was Harriet Elizabeth Welchborn about
1825 and his second wife was Mary Elizabeth Lankford. His
paternal grandmother Margaret Ingram is listed as being head
of the household. Margaret Ingram is listed as being born in
North Carolina. 

I found in the Marion County, Georgia Wills, Will Book A
1846-1914 the following:

Margaret Ingram will great grandson Adderson Davis;James O.
Davis, granddaughter Zilpha Davis, wife of Joshua Davis:
great granddaughter, Mahala Davis; great granddaughter Susan
Davis, dau. of Joshua Davis; Permelia Davis, dau. of Joshua
Davis. Executor, Joshua Davis. Will probated August 20,
1840.Witnesses: James Powell, Anderson Roberts and Nathan M.
Watson.

The oldest daughter Mahala Davis is also in Marion County
Georgia in 1850 and she married Joel Lawhorn. 

Addriet Davis was born January 22, 1838 and married Mary Ann
Hamilton on February 21, 1860 in Marion County, Georgia. He
was a private in the Civil War and was killed at Deep
Bottom, Virginia on August 14, 1864. [Company H  59th Inf. Reg't.]    

Joshua A. Davis was born February 16, 1944 and his brother
Thomas Van Buren Davis was born August 19, 1849. These two
brothers moved to Shelby County, Alabama and died there.

The following children I only have birth dates for and
nothing else:

Susan Davis born July 22, 1828
Melia Davis born February 23, 1831
Joel Davis born October 30, 1834

Ellen Davis born August 15, 1836 (I believe she died before
August 20, 1840 according to the above will of Margaret
Ingram)

James Davis born July 25, 1940
Jesse Davis born 1842
Mary Davis born December 1, 1847.

I hope this information helps and some one can connect me to
Joshua and Zilphia (where they were born, died and where
burined) or to their children (who they married, children
and where buried).
