First located at Ebenezer) Burkhalter, Joshua b. 1763 d. 1845 Ga. Mil. Rev. War Served as a private in the Georgia Militia under Colonel Elijah Clarke and fought at the Battle of Kettle Creek. He received bounty land along Shoulderbone Creek in Washington County for his services. ================ History of Jones County, Caroline Williams pg 597 Joshua and John, Rev. Soldiers. Graves marked by DAR. Sons of Michael Burkhalter, Jr born in Alsace- Loraine and 2nd wife Anna Densler, d/o Conrade Densler m. 1750. He also fought in Bettle of Kettle Creek. ===================== Note: The Burkhalters were very early settlers of Marion County. Land for the town of Buena Vista (originally Pea Ridge) was given by David Burkhalter, son of John Burkhalter, Rev Sol. (Place of death not known-appreciate any additions) Son of John born abt 1762 place not known- died Warrenton, Warren, Ga. and Sarah Hardin born 1763 Pittsylvania Co. Va. (I have more on her Hardin and Lynch line- comes from Charles Lynch who settled Lynchburg Va.) I show David married Ann Eliza Short born a 1808 died 26 Apr. 1882. Places not known. The one child I show- David born 1841 died 8 Jul 1920. He married 6 Feb. 18638 Sumter Co. Ga... Rebecca Alberta Brown born 8 Apr. 1849 Buena Vista, Marion, Ga. died bef 10 May 1881 Silver Springs, Fl. And I don't have their children, but surely WISH I DID! Rebecca Alberta Brown is the dtr. of my George A. Brown Born 1826 Greene Co. Ga. died 1879 Americus, Sumter, Ga. married Crawford Julia P. Raines born 1829 Ga died 1852 Buena Vista, Marion, Ga. (Buried City Cemetery- all alone in a wrought iron fenced in area) George went on to marry at LEAST one more time. He has a census child born before that, or a relative- unclaimed as yet..Georgia Brown. I came from son #3 and last one by Julia William Nathaniel Brown born 1852 just before she died. Other children Rodolphus Adolphin #1, Berta above #2 and #4 or 5-by Loretta J. Daniel Laura Brown born 1864. Since the Clements seem to be involved in this graveyard, the following may fit in... William Burkhalter married 24 Sep.1835 Montgomery Co. Ga. Ann Clements born a 1815-They had Gabriel M C ,Mary, John M, Joseph C., Elias S and Margaret C Burkhalter... And Her Father was Jacob & Mary M. Carroll, with siblings Gabriel M and Jacob C at least. Jacob's Father Gabriel, Rev. Capt. of SC was born 1749 Pittsylvania Co. Va. died 1825 Crawford..so the family was in the area... married Mary Watts. A brother of Jacob == William was in Crawford and Stewart Co. Ga..still in the area.
