Wall and Mrs. Lou Wall of the County of Marion of the first part and M. E. Short of the County of Marion of the second part. Witnesseth: That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Five dollars and the natural love and affection they bear for said M. E. Short, in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by his heirs,bargained, sold and conveyed and by these preents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said part of the second part, his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying or being in the County of Marion said state; to wit: Thirty three acres of the South west corner of Lot 235 as follows: beginning at the south east corner of said land lot and running east alon the south line of said lot from East to West, hence west to the west line of said lot and thence south along said west line to starting point. Also 23 acres more or less off the North East corder of Lot No. 236, beginning at the northeast corner of said lot and running west along said line 34-12 rods thence north to a line through thte center of said lot from east to west, thence east along said line to the East line of said lot and thence south along said East line to starting point. All in the 5th District, said County aggrigrating 66 acres more or less, this being one-third of the Martha Short place. Signed Mrs. Lula Wall and Sarah J. Wall. Witnesses W. D. Crawford and Thos W. Lowe, Clerk S.C. Additional Comments: M.E. Short is Matthew E. Short, and his sisters were Sarah Jane who married Charlie Wall and Frances Louisa who married John Wesley Wall. Matthew married as his second wife Hattie Wall, sister to John and Charlie Wall. The Martha Short mentioned was their mother, widow of James E. Short.
