He received bounty land along Shoulderbone Creek in Washington County for his services. Buried: Burkhalter Family Cemetery, near Buena Vista. (3) Georgia's Roster of the Revolution, p. 40, 239. (Add'l notes: m. Sarah Hardin. Their son, David Newsome Burkhalter b. Warren Cty. 17 Sept. 1803, became a Methodist minister. He sold Lot of land No. 110 for $750 for the purpose of locating a county site for Marion County. This land became the town of Buena Vista-Marion Co. Rena Cobb's history book clearly has the transcribed report of the commissioners stating he SOLD it for $750. =================== JOSHUA BURKHALTER b. 1763 d. 1845 Ga. Mil. Rev. Sons of Michael Burkhalter, Jr born in Alsace- Loraine and 2nd wife Anna Densler, d/o Conrade Densler m. 1750. He also fought in Bettle of Kettle Creek. =============================================== CLEMENT CLEMENTS b. 1764 d. 11/11/1851 Volunteered in 1781 as a private under Captain Peter DuBose. They marched to the Santee River, where for 12 months he was under the command of General Francis Marion of the South Carolina Troops. His detachment fought in several skirmishes at Waterloo (near Monk's Corner), Port Ferry, Four Holes and at Hadrell's Point. See: (1) Abstracts of Some Revolutionary War Pensions, p. 96. Enlisted for 6 months and served as a private in the North Carolina Troops from Edgecombe County. He later received a pension for his services as a resident of Marion County.
