Jack The Marion County Patriot Friday, January 30, 1903 Page Four Brantley News Miss Mildred Smith of Brantley, visited her sister, Mrs. Effie Daniel, at Box Springs a few weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. John Martin’s baby was very sick last Saturday night, threatened with pneumonia. Miss Annie Goodroe visited the school in Brantley Monday. Mr. C.B. Goodroe went to Buena Vista last week and bought two fine young mules from O.C. Bullock. Mrs. Alice Revells started her school at Brantley first Monday in January. She has a nice little school of almost 30 scholars. Mrs. Alice is a fine teacher and is loved by all her pupils. Mr. C.B. Goodroe lost a fine mule Friday night. It ran into barbed wire about four months ago and wasn’t expected to live through the day. It suffered a great deal. A large crowd of men went out fishing Friday night at the Hardage ford and had a jolly time eating fish. There were fourteen men and they caught about fifteen pounds of fish and there was plenty for all. They were fried at the ford by Mr. Willie Goodroe. I see where he’s right in wanting to fry them, I guess he got a plenty while he was cooking them. He must be a good cook anyway. Sheriff Parker said he never enjoyed anything better in his life.
