Quite a crowd of our young people attended the singing at Ebenezer last Monday. Miss Bessie McLendon, a beautiful and charming young lady of Americus, returned home Monday after a pleasant visit to Miss Hart Jossey, much to the regret of her many admirers. Miss Nannie Wells, a charming young lady of Buena Vista, visited at the home of Messrs. D. B. and W. S. Wells last week. Little Miss Mable Calloway, who has been attending school in the ville, has returned home. Miss Annie Park visited near Americus Friday. W. T. Dillard, one of our ambitious young men, entered school at Buena Vista Monday. Dr. J. R. Statham, attended quarterly meeting at Doyle Saturday. The Draneville High School has just closed a very successful term. Many sad heart are found among the little ones. Col. H. N. Munro and Mr. Alto Lowe passed the ville Wednesday. Mr. J. G. Jackson, visited Buena Vista Thursday. Many admiring glances were cast at that pretty new buggy. A prominent lawyer of Buena Vista and one of our pretty young visitors were out driving in the ville last week. Misses Hart Jossey and Bessie McLendon, visited the ville Thursday. The smiling face of Dr. W. F. McCurdy, formerly of Draneville, but now of Richland, was circulating among his old friends here Friday. The school at Mt. Carmel closed Friday and our colored brethren were treated to quite an interesting concert by the dusky lads and lassies. Rev. N. R. Sanborn of Buena Vista, will preach at Mt. Carmel Baptist church on Monday, September the 13th, at 11 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Tullis, of Draneville, scored a great social success last Friday evening when the doors of their hospitable home were thrown open to a select crowd of the young people of this vicinity. Miss Lollie Johnson performed the duty of hostess in her usual charming manner. The guest were entertained by several popular songs very sweetly sung by Misses Bessie McLendon, Hart Jossey, and Lollie Johnson. Miss Bessie McLendon displayed great talent as an elocutionist in the rendition of College oil cans; which was very much enjoyed by all present. A more pleasant evening has not been spent this season by the young people regardless of the fact that several of the young men preferred attending the concert at Mt. Carmel.
