Mrs. Dollie Wyatt is very sick at this writing. Quite a large crowd went fishing Saturday evening. Mr. W.O. Montgomery made a business trip to Rabbit Saturday. Mr. Bob Hamilton was transacting business in Buena Vista Saturday. Mr. Emmett Elliott was in Mauk Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. T.P. Guthrie spent Monday in Mauk. Black Eyes The Marion County Patriot, No. 19 Friday, May 21, 1909 Page Three Ft. Perry Geneva, Ga., May 17 – Mr. Ben Fowler and mother and three children spent Monday in Mauk. Mr. Simeon Lawhorn was in Mauk Saturday. Messrs. R. H. Hamilton and John Christopher, made a business trip to Mauk Saturday. Mr. John Christopher attended preaching at Spring Hill Saturday. Mrs. Dollie Wyatt, who has been sick for three months, died Thursday night. She leaves a husband and five children. The remains were interred in the Heath cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Powell made a business trip to Mauk Monday. Lightning struck the home of Mr. Bob Gorman Monday evening, wrecking one room and the piazza and some furniture. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Powell, of Arlington, visited his parents here last week. The ice cream supper given by Mr. B. Powell last Tuesday night was enjoyed by all present. Grimsley filled his regular appointment at New Life Saturday and Sunday. Miss Nettie Powell was quite sick Wednesday. Miss McDaniel will begin her school here Monday. Messrs. T.P. Guthrie and E.B. Miles spent a few hours in Mauk Saturday. Master Emmet Elliott sent to Mauk Saturday. Highsmith and Mr. Horace Highsmith visited their brother, David, at Junction City a few days last week. Mrs. Rebecca Powell was quite sick last week but is better now. Messrs. Johnnie and Edgar Jones and John Miller passed through our community Sunday enroute to see their best girls. Mr. B. Powell went to Geneva Saturday. Miss Addie Quaration visited her sister, Mrs. Ida Blackston last week. Misses France and Phlista (Philista?) Fowler visited friends and relatives here recently.
