Messrs. Frank and Tom Hendrick went to Juniper Saturday on a fishing trip. Mr. J.B. Sims visited Japanese last Sunday. Rev. J.J. Ansley, of Buena Vista, spent Saturday night at the home of Mr. H.J. Parker. Mr. John J. Parker is expected home from Florida in a few days. Misses Bura and Eugenia Parker and Miss Helen Harris turned the buggy over on their way to Juniper Saturday. No one was hurt. That was their first leap year trip. Mr. T.J. Harris and charming daughter, Miss Helen, spent last Friday and Saturday with the families of Messrs. J.H. Parker and J.E. Lumpkin. Miss Bura Parker is spending this week with relatives at Juniper. Messrs. Frank Hale, Frank Noell and Nathan and Will Carden made a call at Japanese Sunday afternoon. Mr. Buck Parker and daughter, Miss Eugenia, spent Saturday night and Sunday with the family of T.J. Harris at Juniper. Misses Dora and Lonie Johnson spent part of last week with relatives at Parade Springs. J.W. Willingham, of Phoenix, Ala. Miss Eugenie Parker is sick at this writing with lagrippe. Miss Bura Parker returned home Monday from Juniper, where she spent a week most pleasantly with relatives. Mr. Fletcher Harris, of Short’s Mill, visited Japanese Sunday afternoon. Mr. Wes Tyler and Miss Pearl Murry, of Mt. Olive, spent last Sunday with the family of Mr. H.J. Parker. Mrs. Ella Parker and daughter, Miss Lula, went to a quilting at T.J. Hendrick’s last Thursday. Willie Parker happened to quite a painful accident Monday afternoon while playing at school. He fell from a high bank and broke his arm. Dr. Drane was quickly called and set the broken bone. We are glad to note that Willie is able to be up and will be alright again. Misses Lonie, Fannie Mae, Ide Young and Bill Johnson and Frank Noell spent last Sunday at the home of Mr. Wes Phillips at Spring Hill. Lumpkin and little daughter, Minnie Clare, visited Mr. and Mrs. Everette Lumpkin the latter part of last week. The families of J.H. and H.J. Parker, have been very sick with lagrippe the past week. Mr. J.L. Taylor spent Sunday at the home of J.H. Parker. Mr. H.J. Parker spent Friday and Saturday with Mr. J.T. Harris, of Juniper. Messrs. Wes Tyler and Lutha McClung made their usual trip to Japanese Sunday. Mr. Wilbur J. Parker and wife spent Sunday night and Monday with homefolks near Parade Springs. We are very sorry to learn that Frank Hale is sick with pneumonia. Mrs. Mary Moore returned home Saturday after spending a few days with her brother, Mr. J.M. Taylor. Mr. J.H. Lumpkin spent last Sunday with Mr. Bill Harris. Miss Dora Johnson returned home Sunday from her sister’s, Mrs. C.F. Lancaster, where she spent a week very pleasantly. Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Hendrick attended preaching at Ramah last Sunday. Misses Lula and Ida Parker and Mrs. J.E. Lumpkin spent Saturday with Mrs. J.M. Taylor. Mr. J.H. Parker spent last Sunday at Box Springs. Mrs. M.J. Hale returned home from Columbus last Sunday with her son, who has been up there two weeks under treatment of Dr. Richard, for an abcess in his head. We are glad to say that Mr. Hale is some better and hope that he will still continue to improve. Mr. W.R. Parker visited at the home of Mr. J.J. Hendricks last Sunday. Mr. Sam Harris and sister, Miss Nora, of Short’s Mill, spent Saturday night and Sunday with the family of Mr. Buck Parker. Mrs. Martha Parker returned home last Sunday from a pleasant visit with Mrs. M.J. Hale. Parker’s Sunday afternoon and had some good singing, led by Messrs. Sam and Henry Harris, with Miss Ida Parker as organist. J.M. Taylor has been sick the past week and is better at this writing. Mr. A.D. McComb and bride, of Buena Vista, were the welcome guests of Mr. Buck Parker and family Sunday afternoon. Col. B.T. Rainey, of Buena Vista, was the guest of Mr. Tack Parker Monday. Messrs. Miss Alma Parker attended preaching at County Line Sunday. Mr. Wilbur J. Parker and wife, of Buena Vista, visited homefolks at Parade Springs and Japanese Sunday and Monday. Mr. Will Bussy, of Columbus, entertained a large crowd of young people with his graphaphone Saturday night at the home of Mrs. J.E. Lumpkin. Miss Eva Chalkley and brother, Chanler, of Mt. Olive, spent last Sunday at the home of Buck Parkers. Messrs. H.J. and J.J. Parker made a trip to Columbus last Wednesday. Mr. J.B. Hendrick spent last week with relatives here. Messrs. Young and Clint Johnson and Will Carden visited the city of Japanese last Sunday. Messrs. Emette Reese and Charles W. Lowe, of Buena Vista, spent last Thursday night at the home of Mr. J.H. Parker. Messrs. John Parker and J.L. Taylor made a trip up near Mt. Olive Sunday afternoon to see after those people that have been falling in the mud and losing their shoes. Hope they find them all O.K. There was plenty of fish and also other good things to eat. All returned home Saturday night thinking of the pleasant day they had spent. The fish was prepared for eating at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Harris. Misses Alma and Bura Parker spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. J.E. Lumpkin and Mrs. W.B. Cooper. Messrs. H.H. and Henry Harris spent Saturday night and Sunday with the family of J.H. Parker. Solomon Phillips is little improved at this writing. J.B. Hendrick is spending a few days with relatives at Japanese this week. Misses Alice and Dovie Cannon, Messrs. Mose Culpepper and Ralph Cannon, of Pine Knot Springs, attended the fish fry at Juniper last Saturday. Picnics and all-day singings will soon be in full bloom. Walker spent a few days with homefolks last week. Mr. Solomon Phillips died at his home last Wednesday evening after an illness of three weeks of paralysis. He was 83 years old and he leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his death. The heartbroken family have the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement. Mr. W.J. Parker and wife and Mrs. T.J. McClung, of Columbus, spent last Sunday and Sunday night with relatives at Japanese. Messrs. Lon Battle and Frank Hale spent Sunday afternoon with relatives and friends at Japanese. Mrs. Hattie Allen is spending this week with J.H. Parker and family, who is very sick with measles. Mrs. Lizzie Cumbus, of Columbus, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. G.W. Johnson, whose family has had measles. Mr. and Mrs. Felton Roberts returned to their home at O’Chillie last Sunday after attending the funeral of their father, Mr. Solomon Phillips. Mr. Tom Hart visited Japanese last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Buck Parker and son, Grover, and Miss Almr (Alma?) Parker, who have had the measles, are very much improved. Mr. James L. Cato and family spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Hunley. Parker have all been sick the past week but are better. Messrs. H.H., H.N. and Fletcher Harris, three good looking young men from Short’s Mill spent Sunday afternoon at Japanese. Messrs. Lutha McClung and Fred McDaniel visited the city of Japanese last Sunday afternoon. All go to Brown Springs next Sunday. Miss Willibel Storey and Ida Parker and Messrs. Frank Noell and Bill Johnson made a trip to Parade Springs Saturday afternoon. Mr. J.H. Parker went to Buena Vista Monday. The entertainment given in honor of Miss Willibel Storey at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Parker Friday night, was very much enjoyed. Doores were thrown wide open to them, refreshments were served and music was made by Messrs. Frank and Roy Noell, then all engaged in singing until a late hour, being led by two good singers, Messrs. Sam and Henry Harris. The guests all declared they had a most delightful time. We are sorry to note that Mr. J.L. Taylor, who is spending his vacation at home from Athens’ school, is confined to his bed with fever. Master Isido Harris, of Juniper, is spending some time with relatives at Japanese. Miss Rotha McClung spent last week in Buena Vista with her sister, Mrs. W.J. Parker, who is quite sick.
