We regret to learn that Mr. Walter Wright, brother of Mrs. E. W. Lowe of Buena Vista, was murdered in Texas by a brother-in-lew [law] name Jackson some time last month, but we have not been able to learn much of the particulars. It appears that Wright and Jackson had gone to a new section of country and lived together in a temporary shanty. They were clearing up land and Jackson borrowed a rifle and carried to the field with him, but Wright suspected nothing as they were brothers-in-law and on the best of terms. When Wright had his back turned Jackson shot him in the body and again in the head after he fell. The murderer has been arrested and is in jail. He confesses that the murder was cold blood and premeditated, and says he did not sleep for several nights planning the murder. Jackson will certainly test the strength of Texas hemp. W.D.
